| Greetings everyone, as you know, I am Mercy, and I will be acting as the Gamemaster of this role play. Seeing the lack of successful roleplays, I wish to at least have one that can last for more than 4 pages. For those of you unaware of what that entails please follow the link provided. This is intended to be a Play-by-post Role Play and as such it will have several rules of engagement provided below within the spoiler tag. | Spoiler: | | | Rule #1 Be Nice This is rule is paramount to our role playing environment, and it is number one for a reason. This means that you do not call hits, you do not automatically inject yourself into a situation, you do not insult another character directly, you do not read the other player's profile and then use information which you character could not possibly know in the game, or perform any other actions which could deprive another player of their role playing experience. We're all friends here, let's make sure everyone can have fun.
Rule #2 Be Intelligent This is not meant to insult anyone by saying that you're not naturally intelligent. The appearance of this as a rule is simply there to remind people that this is more than just a little forum game where you post one sentence and then go do something else. This is a Role Play, as such it is expected that you get into character and remain as character throughout your posts. I recommend longer posts over shorter ones. The more information you give out, the more there is for others to play off of, and vise versa. We're taking upon the Roles of our characters, and as such should respect that, commit sometime to your posts, use proper grammar, quotation marks for speech etc etc. You don't have to write a term paper, but think of it more like writing your character's part in a Fan Fiction, than just playing their response to the other character's actions. It'll be more fun this way I promise.
Rule #3 Be Objective Perhaps the hardest of the rules to follow. I understand that each of us have our own certain desires, and that it can sometimes be difficult to subtract ourselves from our characters. This is especially true in the case of custom-made characters. But we each must respect that everyone else involved has just as much to give to the game as we do, and as such that in this game there is no Main Character. Let me repeat that, There Is No Main Character. Now keep this in mind while posting. It may very well be that your character may have infinite amounts to give to the story, but if one character drives the game, than that One character is the only one who's getting to do anything interesting. The objective here is balance. If we each give each other room to grow and develop our characters, we will all have exorbitant amounts of fun.
Rule #4 Grammar Check When you post be sure that your post has good grammar. Reread your post, process it through spellcheck. It's not going to be the end of the world (well sort of) if you take a little extra time in posting. Doing this will make the RP a better place to post. In addition to this rule, read other's posts! We work hard on them, so don't skip them.
Rule #5 Characters I am actually going to discourage the use of cannon characters for the sake of staying within continuity of the story. If you think you can role Chris Redfield and stay in character, by all means go ahead, but only if you can stay within the character's limits (Not saying he has limits.. punching a boulder and such, but at least within reason.) If you favor one character, and you have a bias over him or her, you probably shouldn't use that character. Rather, thought-out original characters are encouraged for this roleplay.

I expect everyone to maintain a civil attitude, even those of you playing villains will be expected to remember the moment this game stops being fun for anyone is the moment I have to start busting heads, and to put it simply I am not a merciful god. You will behave or else.
That being said one important element of any role play is the Character Sheet, and while this is more important for fan characters, it is equally important for cannon characters. You might ask why, but then simply ask yourself what the purpose of a Character Sheet is? Clearly you know everything there is to know about your character. The point of a character sheet is to let the other players know about your character. Which does mean that I would hope each player would read the others' character sheets. This is again, less important for those playing cannon characters, but I will again be expecting cannon characters to create Sheets, and for that reason I have created this Character Sheet Prototype, contained in the spoiler tag below. The one attached to our profiles is good, but I have a few improvements to be made.

Example:
Roulette | Spoiler: | | | Name: Charlotte Birdsong Age: 21 Height: 5'6" Weight: 120lbs Hair: Short Brown Skin: White Eyes: Brown Alignment: Good
Appearance Roulette wears tight black tactical suit with light backpack. Its basic lightweight tactical armor. She carries a backpack with expendables, just in case. She has firm grip gloves that can be used to scale walls and combat boots with grip tape underneath the soles.

Tools
Model 3 Smith and Wesson's Model 3 was reintroduced to the market after years from being out of production. The recoil from the .44 rounds is what makes the gun rather inaccurate. Roulette carries both rubber rounds and hollow rounds. She has a chance system for her rounds aswell, just like in the game roulette. Roulette carries five rubber rounds and one hollow point in her cylinder.
Mask Not only an air filter but a heads up display which indicates how much grenades she has left in her utility belt, how much ammunition is in her firearm and how many magazines she has in his packs. Her helmet is connected to all his gear wirelessly and if it happens to fall in the wrong hands she has self-destruction mechanism. The sophisticated mask also has sonar capabilities which allow her to see through walls, indicate hostile forces and all working electronics, and in the dark better than any pair of NVGs. Because her vision is all electronic and liable to EMP, as soon as his helmet loses its electronic sight, manuel vision kicks in.
Armor: Wearing special tactical gear, Roulette is fireproof and bulletproof. Internal blastsheild, grenades and other explosive damage is dampened. Her tactical helmet that she barely wears is has Sonar capabilities that distinguishes electronics and foes. It allows her to see through walls, in the dark, underwater, smoke, and anything else that may obscure her vision. Her suit is knit so rigid she could use the grip to scale walls or buildings. Roulette's suit is also laced with an electric current so if an offender touches her they are shocked with a defensive bolt.
Stun Grenade: Shoots off hundreds of little hard rubber pellets in a relatively small blast radius, from a Co2 fueled gas chamber. The pellets effectively stun its victim for 30 seconds and leaves temporary damage for half an hour. This includes no feeling in area shot at, burning, and minimal paralysis. Charge: 10 seconds.
Tear Gas: Like the smoke grenade this sends a gas that causes severe inflammation in the nostrils and throat. This grenade--unlike the smoke grenade--also makes its victim tear uncontrollably, causing an immense irritation in the eyes. The gas flows steadily out of the grenade and has no charge. Once the key is pulled the chamber is released and the gas is freely flowing.
Tacticle Knife: Rubberized grip and razor sharp blade, used for offense and cutting through what needs to be. Has aerodynamic holes to allow quicker swipes and cuts.
Stun Rod 50,000 watt electrical current when the holder grips tightly on the touch sensitive handle to ensure he doesn't electrocute himself. A simple swing on an oncoming opponent distributes a dangerous lightning strike.
Skills
Quickdraw Roulette is a quickdraw master. Her dead aim accuracy is scary, her precision comes from years of expensive practice. Her parents were supportive of her competing a young age, she held her first .22 revolver at the age of 12. By the time she was 18, she was beating people twice her age at quickdraw matches. Roulette is able to hit 6 balloons in 3 seconds from 20 yards away without wasting a bullet.
Extreme Speed By ducking and running, Roulette achieves wicked fast speeds making her a hard target.
Dependability and Trust If you want to count on anyone to get the job done, Roulette will achieve the given goal or die trying.
Honor and Respect Having a Christian Worldveiw pounded into her as a small child, she considers everyone her higher. She addresses everyone with honor and respect, this is vital for high value missions.
Origin Charlotte Birdsong was born in New York to Luke and Esther Birdsong. She grew up with her mother, father, and two younger sisters, in Texas, home of the Quickdraw Championship, her parents would often take them to see the tournaments that were held. As the Prize Money grew each year the economy slowly decreased, and the Prize is what caught the eyes of many competitors. The family had an old .22 Smith and Wesson, upon holding the firearm down the woods in her backyard--her father, supervising--Charlotte had an extreme familiarity with the gun. It naturally came to her as she nailed targets from afar, a true child prodigy according to some. Her father got over excited about it and convinced his wife to support their daughter in the sport. They invested a large portion of their money to hone Charlotte's skills as a quickdraw shooter. She was grateful to her parents for their support and it soon turned into a passion for the young girl. Charlotte learned her gun inside out and familiarized herself with it even further. As the years went by she competed and earned little prize money, then, her father died of a heart-attack. His death crushed Charlotte's spirits and he had no insurance to cover for the family, the money invested in Charlotte's quickdraw training could have covered for the family for a while had they not used it. Her mother was diagnosed with depression, so a motive to succeed came over Charlotte. She entered the year's largest match at the age of 18. In the end she earned her family $500,000. This amazing feat of course caught the eyes of many organizations. Her mother allowed her to choose one that she thought would serve a greater cause. Nearly every single one supported the idea of turning Charlotte into a human weapon. The only organization that discouraged killing was SHARP.

However while it is important to disclose everything about your character, primarily so that the other players might know things without having to actually ask you or your character, and it is a smart thing to do to read the other player's character sheets. It is paramount that we all keep in mind not simply what We know about each others' characters, but what Our Characters know about each others' characters. The point of reading the other character's sheets is so that if say, Robin were to perform some tests on someone while they were unconscious or indisposed Robin's player would know the results without having to ask the indisposed character's player. This just speeds things along, and allows us all to put more into our posts.
And speaking of the posts. As I said before There Is No Main Character, however this does not mean that things cannot be oriented toward a specific character. It is the responsibility of the Players to recognize such situations and make the best of them, however, you should not attempt to force another player into such a situation because you feel that your character deserves/needs one. It is far better if such things happen organically, but again, in order for such things to happen organically each player must be able to give & take. This is how the game goes, one character gives a little another character takes a little, then they go round again and again and again. If one character attempts to 'hog the spot light' than no one will get to have any fun because, in my experience, no one likes a character who's player 'hogs the light' however if you let things progress, if you're in it for the long hall, eventually your character will get the praise they 'rightly' deserve.
You have to let the relationships of this game develop just like real relationships, otherwise it's just no fun. And that's no fun.
PLOT
The Global Pharmaceutical Consortium sends an SOU (Special Operations Unit) of the BSAA to investigate bio-terrorist threats that are being called The Big Dipper. This inevitably leads them to a prison infested with B.O.W's. Escape the prison alive with your Unit and uncover the mystery of The Big Dipper. Teamwork is rewarded and those who play unintelligently will eventually be mauled to death as punishment. |
