I was wondering what in RE 1 the skinless Gorilla was meant to be. If you read the reasearchers diary it mentions about a skinless gorilla being fed. I don't really recall facing an enemy that resembled a gorilla and I doubt the game would mention something like that and not introduce a character or monster like that.

So what was the actual creature or when did it appear in the game ?

The only primates encountered in the actual canon are Eliminators. They weren't gorillas, though.

In Resident Evil 1.5 (the beta version of RE2) there were supposed to be these huge gorilla-like BOWs. Those might be the creatures you're talking about.

You can see one of them in this video. It appears at 6:08.

They were later used in a fan project based on 1.5. You can download the demo [here].

Ah thank you. In all the times I played RE 1 I always wondered why they didn't include this skinless gorilla monster they mentioned . I thought it was quite strange they would mention this monster and then not put it in the game. I think what I saw in the video is definately what the gorilla probably looked like. I wonder why they didn't include it. They must just probably have thought that it didn't look scary enough.

They certainly did leave quite a few things out from the final RE2 compared to 1.5

Oh and by the way, welcome to the forums.

Yeah they did leave out quite a few things. I think it would been interesting to see that gorilla enemy. I have been very interested in the "Man Spider" enemy and thought it was quite creepy.

And the way the characters were changed like ada was orginally called Linda and being a doctor. And Brian Irons role reversal. I'm quite glad they turned him into the bizzare psychopath in Re 2, I always thought he was better as a villian. I always find it really creepy meeting him in his office. .

In the vid? I think that was a Chimera (human x fly), wasn't it?

In the vid it might have been a chimera. I remember reading about enemies that were removed from Re 2 and one was called a man fly.

I'd assume a Hunter. It looks gorrilla-like. That's gotta be it.

Hunters were based on reptiles/amphibians. I already linked a video with one of those gorilla creatures.

Of course, but their shape has an obvious resemblance to a 'skinned gorilla'.

But no other place?

If we decide to choose a canon RE monster though, I'd think Hunter would be the best pic....I can't think of anything else. As Eliminators didn't exist when RE1 came out.

I'd just go with the fact that the creatures were never shown. Maybe they weren't effective enough and got destroyed before everything went wrong.
