I agree. Basically in my point of view, I consider classic everything until RE4, mainly because there is a HUGE change in the series after that game. Just my oppinion, of course that if we are strict the first three games are the "classic" ones, and I think is ok to consider Outbreaks a "classic" Re game, mainly because it is third person |

and you would consider Outbreak classic? are you joking?
the reason the first three games would be considered classic is because well, theyre the first 3. they are old, have been around for a good long while and most grew up playing them. re4 already has a huge hate following, plus coming out much later, and being overpopular.
but basically being and looking older.
outbreak is definately not a classic.
mgs is a pretty classic game.
just like with movies, the way something like Psycho, Space Odyssey and Pulp Fiction can probably all be considered classics, while The Thing remake and My Bloody Valentine not so much.
it has nothing to do with being 3rd person._________________ -Vae Victus-Suffering To The Conquered-"The ultimate lifeform...Tyrant", Albert Wesker, REmakeConsumer Recreation Services |

RE4 and 5 are third person too. |
sorry, i was refering to the fixed camera angles
@at spikey: read the part that says "In my point of view", and about RE4, I'm not talking about the silly discussion about the survival horror, I'm talking about the gameplay, the gameplay after RE4 was never the same |

| I think I love you.
Ha ha. No. But I like hearing that the old games are much better than 4 or 5 and whatever else. ^_^
Welcome, and have lots of fun. ^_^ |

Games like Outbreak, CVX, Zer0 and REmake do have the classic gameplay style but that would outline all the other RE games from the same era from being "classics". You did say you agree with GL but the Survivor series did not have the same gameplay style as the originals. Actually DA had much the same gameplay style as what it is today._________________ ~The Weapon of Mass Distraction~ COMMUNITY:Resident Evil Forums Chat Group: [link]Resident Evil Forums Facebook: [link]Come check my Let's Plays: [link]Gaming forum I'm moderating: [link] |

Except it wasn't an action shooter (despite the back cover saying it is lol), it still maintained the horror movie atmosphere that the previous games had. |

As did RE4. By RE5, when they say those bits about the horror, nobody here probably takes that seriously, but still, RE4 maintained that atmosphere without deviating too much.
@Paul, I read the whole thing and my post still stands.
Your point of view isn't what I'm talking about. The gameplay hasn't been the same for a long time. RE4 made some adjustments to things that have been showing up for a long time.

At least since RE3. And I could sit here and list all kinds of similarities and evolutions from earlier things, that were maybe perfected by RE4. Stuff like dodging.
I know i've done it before, in one of the many, many, many, many RE4 discussion I've had. _________________ -Vae Victus-Suffering To The Conquered-"The ultimate lifeform...Tyrant", Albert Wesker, REmakeConsumer Recreation Services |
