I followed this three part YouTube tutorial. Basically what I did was completely strip my PS3 down to the CPU and GPU, cleaned off the old thermal compound, and applied a new layer of it on the CPU and GPU, then put my PS3 back together.

Here's the first part of the three part set of videos I was talking about.

That worked for me too. Well, for a while, the thing broke down again in a week.
