PostSubject: REmake: Breaking redundancy    Sat Aug 06, 2011 2:08 pm

I have recently started a new Chris playthrough of REmake. I haven't played as Chris in a while in that game, so it feels more fresh.

But what I'm also doing is things that I don't normally do. Like making things harder for myself by taking harder routes (like purposely going through the hallway from the direction that triggers the dogs jumping through the window), taking multiple trips to get items, killing zombies that really don't have to be killed all that much, and even killing some enemies with the knife. Making stuff harder and doing things differently keeps things different and fun for me. If I keep playing REmake as Jill and taking the same routes, it get's boring after a while.

Does anybody else do this? Purposely be careless to make things harder? Take harder routes? Using more ammo than necessary?

If you want to make it a lot harder, try invisible enemy on hard. It was great fun for me.

I usually go for harder difficulties or use the arranged mode. I'm talking about the games in general as I've never played REmake.

REmake is pretty easy on hard. That's why I like invisible enemy. Real survival only adds a lot of backtracking, because the item boxes aren't connected. One dangerous zombie is fun too. It sucks that you can't disable it though, once you've unlocked it.

Have you tried keeping every key and such, not throwing them away?

That sounds like an interesting thing to do. I may try that sometime.

I think I've done a playthrough like that in the original RE. I tried it with RE2 but got frustrated pretty quickly. Adds a lot of backtracking when you have to get rid of them. Also leaving enemies alive adds a challenge to this.

Yep, and if you shoot him, it's game over.

Hmm. What if I were to stand by a door, fire the G. Launcher then run through the door? He'd die, and I'd live. Right?

The game doesn't see it that way. If you hit him, your dead, no matter what.
