PostSubject: RE4 Pro Mode: Did anyone else do this?   Wed Aug 03, 2011 2:45 pm

I remember the first time I tried Professional mode on RE4 I was having so much fun. The added challenge made it an even more involving experience. I loved it. I spent A LOT of time playing it and saved a bunch, but then . . . I made it to that room. You know? That giant room in the castle with the hundreds of enemies and wheels to spin? Where you later have to jump across bridges that Ashely has to bring up?

Well, I died there probably twenty times. Or, should I say, GAMEOVERED. Ashely's Ai seems like it got worse on Pro mode. She made literally no effort to stay alive. None. In fact, she was practically begging to be killed. You know what she did when enemies were coming after her? Crouch. No running. Just crouching.

It frustrated me sooo much, that I started over with costume 2 so that Ashely would have armor. I wasted quite a few hours just to start over, but it was worth it since I could actually beat that one part, and the only way I could die was if I died. Plus it's always nice to have indestructible bait.

I can't remember if I used armor Ashley for pro mode the first time around. I'm playing it again with the regular costumes, and yeah, Ashley does seem to crouch too much if the bad guys get too close.

Still, pro mode in RE4 is much more reasonable than in RE5.

I thought RE4 pro mode was pretty easy. I completed it my second playthrough (Gamecube version, so without Ashleys Knight costume) and I died like 8 times. Hardest part for me was the boss fight against Mr Mendez. The room you mentioned was pretty hard too, and so were the sewers with the invisible novistadors. RE5 pro and RE0 hard mode are much harder for me.

I'm doing it right now. I'm currently on the mines.

I think RE4 should have been on pro by default. With Normal as an easy mode maybe.

and in RE5 pro mode, I could not move one step.
