You know, I was once asked on Youtube, "How would you feel if someone made a game where America was the bad guy?" I replied by telling that person, "I wouldn't give a shit."
In other words, I agree with you.

I've been intending to address that, actually. The guy being interviewed states that "people say RE4 was a reboot". But that isn't the case due to the fact that, despite the forward jump in time, it still built upon the canon of the previous games. That alone disqualifies it from being a reboot in the true sense, because a reboot discards or renders irrelevant all previous canon, like the upcoming Tomb Raider game, the recent Star Trek film, and the various iterations of Prince of Persia all do.

I'm aware what reboot in it's actual sense means, but the Svensson guy only clarifies here Jun Takeuchis statement of a "complete reboot". He also said that "There are a variety of definitions that people have for what a reboot means", out of which most wouldn't propably classify as 'reboot' in the literal sense. I'm just taking this statement that the next RE will be something completely different but still maintains the original storyline._________________ ~The Weapon of Mass Distraction~ COMMUNITY:Resident Evil Forums Chat Group: [link]Resident Evil Forums Facebook: [link]Come check my Let's Plays: [link]Gaming forum I'm moderating: [link] |

I'm aware already that the "re-boot" won't be a major overhaul. I was actually pretty much going to say that it will probably be similar to the RE4 outcome, that it wasn't actually a re-boot, more of a continuance in time.
To completely change EVERYTHING would be mightily stupid of Capcom, which is why they definitely (or hopefully I should say) won't.
And I agree with the racist statement ... people are far too highly strung when it comes to discrimination. I mean, kids can't even sing "Baa Baa Black Sheep" in school anymore because the sheep is black :O
Effing ridiculous. |

Yeah, I did never understand the racist bullshit. Did anyone complain about the fact your killing Spanish people in RE4? No. And besides, it would be strange if Africa had only white inhabitants. THAT would be racism. |

To be fair, though, the racism issue was brought up over an early build of the game that had enemies that were all black, and it's very possible that the other nationalities (read: culture soup") hadn't been implemented yet. As can be seen in the final game, a lot of the majini reflect the Arab population of North Africa, where Kijuju is located, in addition to a few that are just as Caucasian as Chris is.
But, even beside that, they were parasite-controlled homicidal maniacs trying to kill you, which negates any claims of racism. WTF are you supposed to do, give them hugs and big wet kisses? |

Yeah, is it so hard to get it's a friggin' video game? If it's infected, kill it. Survival does not take race, gender or anything else like that into account._________________ ~The Weapon of Mass Distraction~ COMMUNITY:Resident Evil Forums Chat Group: [link]Resident Evil Forums Facebook: [link]Come check my Let's Plays: [link]Gaming forum I'm moderating: [link] |

| Both Mass and Ghost are correct ... racism is a total non-issue when it comes to video games. It's pixels on a screen, not real people. Fair enough if someone dropped an ACTUAL parasite or virus upon Africa as an attempt of genocide ... then it can be called racism. Either that or I still have a bad habit of taking things too far, and being a drama queen |

| ...Well, the laser that kills the parasite was destroyed at the end of RE4. And, given the alterations to create Type 2 and Type 3 plagas, it would probably kill the hosts, anyway.
The quarantine means they won't get out, so they'll probably just get killed by the BSAA. |
