PostSubject: What Did You Want From RE5?   Mon May 16, 2011 9:34 pm

Alright, now with these two earlier trailers for RE5 in mind, what did you expect and want to have in RE5.

I think that having it take place in Africa was a really cool idea, for tons of reasons. Obviously they were coming full circle, as RE's very roots are in Africa. Progenitor, Spencer, Marcus, Ed Ashford, etc.

There was also the fact that Chris was going to be the protagonist, so you could, and I did, pretty much assume Wesker would be there, and with each of them vowing that the next time they met, it would be the last, you just knew that there would be an epic conclusion to their awesome feud.

There's more to it than that though, more than seeing pretty much where it all began and concluding a great feud. There are other things that they could do with the game being in Africa, that they couldn't do in any other game in any other location.

I would loved to have some sort of Witch Doctor stuff, very Candyman, Child's Play, Baron Samedi from Live & Let Die. The imagery and plot that could have been there would have been really cool. There's nothing indicating that we would have had anything like this, nothing to imply, I just would have liked it, though with the racism claims, I almost feel like that stuff would never have shown up....

It seemed, with the very first trailer for RE5, that the enemies could be T-virus infected, V-Acts(or Crimson Heads for those of you who don't know what V-Acts are). The ambiguous enemies turned out to be Las Plagas infectees, which is still cool, but also dissapointing.

Type 2 Las Plagas was a really cool new thing. Just the difference between injected someone with Las Plagas and waiting for it to mature and take control, versus using an already matured Plaga and orally forcing it into an individual, with almost immediate results, is awesome. Some of the visuals were cool too, like the way the mouth would open. Some of the new parasite creatures were cool too, like the weird crab one, and the flying ones.

I do feel that they were limited by having to rely on a partner, limited in how we could handle them. I can't stand getting grabbed from behind by a Majini.

Gameplay wise, I feel like the controls were pretty good overall in RE5, assuming you're playing with the RE control scheme, which I think was Type D. I liked the new spots for melee attacks. We now had about 6 or so, instead of just two.

So what kind of stuff did you want to see?

The Base Majini. It seems as though they never grab the player and their stun rods/AK-74/Rocket Launchers cannot be dropped even though you shoot their arms.

I liked them by their resilience from firearms and the aggressiveness (100% probability of backhanding the player from stun rod), and their high intelligence, which allows them to use AKs rocket launcnhers, etc.

Their big brute (Gatling Gun Majini) is one of my most liked.

Ha.Smile You should talk with our member NiteKrawler about those JJ's from RE5.

I hated the firearms to be honest. I found that annoying. The stun rods were pretty annoying, but effective, and could really mess you up with just a single strike.

Yeah, and one thing. Some of them are partially armored, and rare are those who are fully armored, making it hard to perform melee attacks on them.

Try having a fair fight with Base Majini with a stun rod and see who's the victor.

You've played RE5 Mercs Reunion right?

In the Experimental Facility, the one with the Lickers, and the Base Majini, as you called them, is actually quite difficult. It has those fully armored guys, majini with AK's, Licker's, all you could want and more.Smile

Yeah, some time ago from a PS3 shop.

The lickers are quite annoying in single player. Failure to press the command prompts is instant death. Man, players having weapons having a piercing value are an asset there in that map.

Oh yeah, if you fail that button press....

Barry's sniper was a great asset for sure. I found that Rebecca owned on there, with the Striker. And since she had two FA Sprays, health wasn't too much of an issue with her.

She only has one good melee attack though, the flamethrower move, which is pretty much instant kill on pretty much every enemy.

lol about rebecca, she has large reserves of ammo from the beginning. The Flame Spray is lulz, as I would never thought majini are weak against fire.

She only has like one empty space....plenty of ammo for each gun, both guns are usable too.

She's a great overall character.

Majini weak against fire? Is there anything that isn't?

She would probably own one of the Uroboros creatures pretty quick wouldn't she.

Excella's Uroboros?

If that's the one, I used an RPG....I hated how annoying and tedious that fight was. BTW, you should introduce yourself in the Introductions section, that way everyone has a change to meet you.

Oh haha, yeah I'll introduce myself there now.

In pro difficulty, that boss is annoying not because of the boss, but the slime monsters, which if one clings at you, you would be left in Caution status and a little bit of hp, which one attack is enough to bring you to dying status

Somebody needs to tell Capcom that boss fights like that, aren't fun.

The same thing with the Alexia fight in her second form in CVX.
