PostSubject: Outbreak's controls   Fri Jan 21, 2011 1:37 am

Yeah, I guess the PS2 really isn't doing it for me in terms of RE controls.

So, um, are the Outbreak controls supposed to be this bad? Is it totally natural for me to not be use to them at first? Cause I can't see me getting use to them any time soon. The way you move is just so awkward that I can't imagine anyone being able to play this well. Does anybody here have the same problem?

Just like in Gaiden I was confused at first but an hour or so of playing the game the controls weren't half bad.

Yes, but you'll get used to them. At least I did. The cutscenes, environments, etc really made up for the crappy controls.

D-pad for movement, if you use the analogue though, it makes the movement different from RE. i.e. pressing UP always making you go forward, no matter what the angle is, that is the RE camera and movement, but if you use the analogue, it makes it so that the direction is changed based on the angle...if that all makes sense.

Try out some of the different sets though, I think there are 4, an A, B, C, & D. Like I said though, you'll probably get used to it.

D-pad for movement,

This really helped a lot, thank you. For some reason, I never tried using the D-Pad, but kept on using the control stick. The D-Pad works just like a traditional Resident Evil game. This will make it a lot easier to play and enjoy.

Again, thank you.

Glad I could help. That's one thing I dislike about the RE games that are not on GC, the lack of consistency.

They all played so similar, the exact same basic controls on the GC, and I loved that. RE0, REmake, RE2, RE3, CVX, and RE4 on GC FTW.

I had the same problem at first. Naturally, I thought Square
enabled running. Instead it's Circle. It was easy for me to
get used to since the running and directions felt like DMC.

The controls in Outbreak are one of the reasons I've put off playing it. They're so awkward for me

I actually finally got my first RE games: CVX and Outbreak File #2. I tried CVX first and didn't get the controls at ALL. Like seriously. I was killed nearly instantly. But when I (after getting frustrated by CVX) went to Outbreak, the controls were MUCH more simpler for me. Neutral Being used to shooter games might have something to do with this but I'm not sure.....
