If someone is friending me and I don't recognize the name, I message them asking who they are and where they know me from (unless their friend request is accompanied by a message telling me this info). If they don't know me from anywhere, like a certain individual who recently kept messaging me with responses along the lines of "Quit joking, you know who I am!" and whatnot, I won't add them. After extensive experience with YouTube, my long ago-deleted Windows Live messenger account, and loads of "friends" that I never had any contact with past the initial friending, I won't add any Tom, Dick, or Harry that passes by. I have to know the person from somewhere and I have to have known them for a certain amount of time.

This is why I don't make my PSN name public like I did my Live account a long time ago. I think Nite and KeVo are the only two people currently on this site that are on my PSN friend list. Anyone else I want to have it, will get a PM from me with it. It's nothing personal against anyone else here, it's just the only friends I'm interested in are ones like Nite, Spike, and the aforementioned KeVo that I actually have regular contact with, not those that only care about having my name on a long list of names.

@GL: I hear you. A while back, my girlfriend had some older lady try to add her on Facebook. We both had no idea who she was but she had a ton of mutual friends. So we texted one of the mutual friends and asked her who this old lady was, and that friend had no idea. I went off on her. I was like, "If you don't fucking know who she is, then why did you accept the request?!" I guarantee you that all of the other "mutual friends" also added the lady even though they didn't know her just so they could boost their friend list. It's pathetic. I have 138 friends on Facebook. That's a "pitiful" number compared to most people and even I admit that I need to clean it out soon because I don't talk to most of them. But, I do know them and I know where I know all of them from. The only ones I don't really know are the significant others of my friends who I add just to not offend my friends.
