This suggests that Alex Wesker is thought to be dead....
The last anyone knew of Alex is he/she was conducting experiments in the South Seas islands to find a virus for Spencer in order to find the secret to immortality. Alex managed to create this virus but betrayed Spencer and dissapeared with the results. Since Alex succeeded it's unlikely he/she is dead.

Ada Wong was hired by Albert Wesker in RE:4 to retrieve a Plaga sample (Really, her loyalties lay with the mysterious Organization she worked for and was also conspiring against Wesker). Under orders of the Organization, Ada double-crossed Wesker and delivered a fake version of the sample to him. If the Organizations main objective is to destroy Umbrella/Tricell...why would Ada have gone through so much trouble to obtain a real sample? Could Alex be the head of the Organization?

I think Alex Weskers story is unfinished, especially since he/she (I personally hope she!) already has the key to immortality.

If Alex could obtain the Las Plagas and use the "hive mind" effect it seems to have then he/she would have the ultimate soldiers...

So basically, Alex would be going for the same scheme as Al? And now that you mention it, Alex could be a woman. Nice. Still, was his gender ever mentioned in the LIN files?

Also, if Spike is right about them both having been in the ID and possibly knowing eachother, would this mean they had some kind of rivalry? Only the next game (or a spin off) will tell us.

Thats the only reason I could think of as to why Alex would want both strains of virus...to continue what Spencer started and create a new human race with him/herself as the leader.

The source of all the Alex Wesker speculation, from what I recall, was the screenshot of Jill and Chris holding each other at gunpoint behind a chair with a man who looked exactly like Chris, whom fans and previews speculated was Alex Wesker, tied to it. Beyond that, I don't recall seeing or hearing anything that implied Alex was going to be in RER.

Maybe Spike or Mass can elaborate here, since all Mass does is search for new info on anything RE and Spike doesn't seem to have a life beyond RE ( )...
