Have you ever had to replace one or needed to get a bigger one (and why)? If your answer is yes, how much did it cost and how it is done? Is it something I could do myself?

I have not done it. But I know it's easy as hell. I know it just takes the removal of one screw to get the harddrive out. I'd suggest googling it to find a step by step guide.

The hardrive is easy to take out. I think after you put in your new hard drive the Ps3 formats it then its good to go

Mass, if I were you I would get the new harddrive in asap and get all your files on the new one!

I already ordered a 500GB model, should be getting it soon. Wouldn't want to lose my saves n' stuff :/

EDIT: ...and now I got it. That seemed to do the trick, games now work perfectly and even the load times were halved. Now I just need to make a backup of my old hdd and put the files in the new one.
