In your opinion, what RE game do you think had the best atmosphere? Think about things such as music, setting etc.

I'm gonna go with the REmake, the mansion looked incredibly creepy, and the crimson heads just added to the tension.

I think I actually preferred the REmake to the original =0

That's a tough one. I prefer the REmake over the original for sure, but the original has better music, as the REmake instead used ominous sounds instead of cool tracks like Mansion 1F, and Mansion 2F.

CVX had some of my favorite music, it was such a huge part of it, the Ashford's music box, everything. Though Rockfort was okay, and same with Antartica, the music really made it for me.

I might go with the Outbreaks though, as Raccoon City is such a great location, and seeing them all pretty and remade is cool, the music was amazing too.

To me it has to be either 2 or 3. Two was the first older gen RE game I had played and it really worked for me (music-, gameplay- and storywise) and sometimes really creeped me out. 3 on the other hand was what brought me to RE (if you do not count that first encounter with RE which was readin a lot about RE1) when I watched my friend play with it when I was a kid. It had some really scary stuff (like the Nemesis) and the game altogether was just right.

RE Original. As for the best scene, I would say RE5 where you have to get that thing off of Jill. Probably the best atmospheric, emotional scene in any RE game I have seen. But all around it goes to RE Original.

RE3 no doubt...it is what got me into the whole series...just running around in a city full of zombies trying to survive is great...then the whole deal with Nemesis tracking you made it even better...just all round good times with that game

My favorite atmosphere is definitely REmake, I agree with Spike that Original has better music but the lighting/shadow effects of REmake blew me away that stuff was cutting edge at the time.

RE1 remake is undoubtably the scariest RE game to date.

In terms of atmosphere and scare factor this is how I would rate the RE games I have played, 1 being the most scary.

Yeah, I didn't think RE4 was too scary either, scarier than 5, but no way scarier that 2 IMO.

You guys are nuts. For starters the graphics on RE2 were not that good by modern day standards so its not going to be as scary as RE4 becasue that had good graphics combined with fear. The scariets part of RE4 was fighting the Los Iluminados in the castle and trying to get ashley out of the village in the middle of a thunderstorm.

i agree the first time i played RE4 i didnt want to run because i didnt know what i was going to walk into. like on the island when the the guy on fire jumps out and grabs onto you, i threw the controller across the room it startled me so much. and another was when you had to pick between two routes and i picked the chainsaw ladies (without reading the note so i had no idea what was behind the door) and i jumped domn into the area that triggers the chainsaw women and all the sudden two come out, i died 11 times on that
