Which style of gameplay do you enjoy most for Resident Evil?
2.5D-like RE1 and 2
OnRails-like UC and DC
or free to roam 3d like RE4 and 5

for me it's the on rails.
P.S spike told me to make this. That'll be my excuse in case I did something wrong. XD

CVX was also 3D, and not prerendered environments...

But anyway, I certainly don't have a preferrence for the rail-shooters. I love the Chronicles series, and I especially love Darkside, as UC was more of an experiment, for them to get the next one right, almost pefect. Hopefully the same will happen with Degeneration.

Between camera angles & over-the-shoulder, I find them both pretty eqally stimulating. I definately prefer being able to aim though.

I used two examples for each style. Sorry I didn't use one you prefer

Oh that wasn't a problem, I was just pointing it out.Smile CVX was actually the first to not use prerendered environments.

There's also the light gunners (Survivor series) and over the top RPG-like (Gaiden). Sorry for barging in but I love the spin-offs so much I just had to point these out Very Happy
Well, as much as I love those games, I'd have to say the original style/the newer action style. I'm really looking forward seeing what the gameplay in Revelations will be like.

Ps. We need a new Outbreak!

I think the new over the shoulder gameplay is more fun. Just wish they'd try to make the new ones a bit creepier than they have been.

Yeah, pretty much. I think all of the games could have been creepier though, new & old.

So pretty much:
Onimusha,
House of the Dead,
or Gears of Wars?
We (I) choose the newer style, it's not all that scary (like they ever were...in fact, how bad the Graphics were is probably the scarist thing.), it's not all that hard, but at least you can actually aim.

I love the old style fixed "classic" RE style gameplay but I do enjoy the new OTS third person just a little bit more. It makes everything a little bit easier but at the cost of making it a little less suspenseful. Now, to make 3POTS perfect... let me strafe and move whilst aiming. Rail shooters.... no thank you. I played chronicles because the were RE titles, other than that I have never had an interest in any rail shooter (unless you count Lethal Enforcers but that was back in the day)

Hmmm...I think it still has much of the same suspense...you still have the times where you can't see an enemy, and they can get the upperhand on you. Difference is, now it might be from behind, or around a corner, and while back in the camera angle era, enemies around the corner were still a problem, a lot of the time you might get attacked by an enemy 2 feet in front of you, because you can't see that far....

I kind of hope stuff like strafing and moving while aiming don't come in...unless it works like in Outbreak File#2...in which case you had to hold onto a button in order to move around, while already holding onto L1 to aim, and then shooting reguired another button.
