Here you will learn to to MOD your Resident Evil 4
-Program and Files-
1.You need to download gca_e.exe
2.Go to your Resident Evil 4 folder and look for a file call xfile.DAT. Rename this file to xfile.GCA
3.Open GCA_E and click File>Extract File then locate your xfile.GCA file and click



-If you cant find the file when you click Extract File READ THIS-
1.Open your Resident evil folder click Tools > Folder Options > View > UNCHECK "Hide extensions for known files types"

and retry renaming the file xfile.DAT rename this file to xfile.GCA and it should work

-Installing MOD-
1.Download the mod you wish to install
2.Here is a link for MOD Resident evil forums MOD section
3.Save this file to your desktop
4.You will need Winrar to extrack this files here is a download Winrar 32 bit or winrar 64 bit
5.Ones you are done installing winrar extrack your MOD files to your desktop (or any place you can remember it) and open your Resident Evil 4 Folder
6. You should see a folder called "xfile". Now, take your mod folder. What does it say? It SHOULD say xfile, however it may not. If it says plxx then copy and paste it into the xfile > em subdirectory. Otherwise, take the folder included and copy / paste into your main re4 directory. Please note: Not all mods are Xfile mods.
7.Done Have FUN

how do you change DAT to GCA

I've only used one mod so far. All I had to do was copy the file into the RE4 folder. What's the difference between doing that and this?
